Hi, I'm Amanda—founder, designer, author, homeschool mom of five, and the heart behind Giplings.
How Giplings Began
Giplings was born during one of the busiest and most rewarding seasons of my life.
As a homeschool mom of five, I was navigating the beautiful chaos of raising children while trying to be intentional with the time we spent together. Somewhere in those ordinary days, the image of a mama duck and her ducklings kept appearing in my mind. Then one night, while everyone else was asleep, inspiration struck. I sketched a simple duckling and wrote down a name I’d never heard before:
Giplings.
At the time, I had no idea that one late-night sketch would grow into something much bigger than I ever imagined.
The goal was simple: create products that support families while making everyday life a little more joyful, meaningful, and intentional.
The Little Gift That Changed Everything
The very first Giplings product wasn’t a toy or a book.
It was a handcrafted Slouch Bag.
After searching for a bag that combined both function and style—and never finding exactly what I wanted—I decided to design and sew one myself.
As a small thank-you for each customer, I tucked a simple bookmark inside every bag. Because encouraging reading has always been such an important part of our family, the bookmark was shaped like the little duckling from my original sketch.
I didn’t realize it then, but that tiny free gift would become the very first Duck-links™.
Before long, customers were asking about the bookmark as much as the bag itself. What started as a simple extra quickly became the heart of Giplings and inspired an entirely new collection of products.
Sometimes the smallest ideas have the biggest impact.
